Dear Parents and Friends:

During the week of April 8th – April 12th, we at Blacksburg Primary School will be celebrating National Library Week.  This time is being set aside to emphasize the important role that libraries can and should play in our lives.  The national theme this year is
“Ready, Set, Library!”  It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.

Blacksburg Primary School will be sponsoring a Bookmark Contest as a part of our celebration of National Library Week.  All students wishing to participate are asked to design a bookmark of their choice.  The theme of the bookmark should include reading and/or libraries and be the student’s original work.  Bookmarks can be made using plain white paper or poster board.  They MUST be done ONLY in BLACK and WHITE.  They should be 2 inches wide and 6 inches long.  All bookmarks must be turned in to me by Thursday, April 11th.   Grade winners as well as one overall winner for our school will be selected.  The school’s winning bookmark will be reproduced and distributed to everyone at Blacksburg Primary School. Please encourage your child to participate.

Thank you,

Erin Hogue
